Stock Market Highlights: Sensex ends flat at 74,295, Nifty closes at 23,346 in volatile session

    September 17, 20262 Mins Read

Expectations for Friday’s trading session point to a flat to mildly positive opening for domestic equity benchmarks, with early signals from GIFT Nifty near 23,330–23,345 suggesting a muted or soft green start relative to Thursday’s close of 23,270.60. Wall Street momentum offers solid risk-on support, with the Nasdaq surging over 1.6 per cent and the S&P 500 up 1.1 per cent overnight, while moderating crude oil prices continue to provide relief to emerging market equities and Indian inflation concerns. Traders are also watching the Bank of Japan’s interest rate decision, which could influence broader Asian market volatility and cross-currency flows. Technically, the Nifty faces immediate resistance at 23,365, Thursday’s intraday high, followed by 23,400; a decisive move above this zone could extend the recovery toward 23,500, while the key support zone sits at 23,200–23,190, Thursday’s low, with the next cushion at 23,000. Among stocks in focus, Bharat Electronics secured additional orders worth ₹648 crore across defence and IT solutions, Wipro partnered with Aramco and SAP to launch a dedicated asset management solution, Oil India announced plans to invest ₹15,000 crore over three years into deepwater exploration, and Bharat Forge launched its qualified institutional placement with a floor price of ₹1,947.70 per share.
