Are NSE and BSE open or closed on November 5? Check full list

    November 3, 20252 Mins Read

Stock Market Holiday Tomorrow: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed for trading on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, on account of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti.

As per the 2025 trading calendar released by both exchanges, this will be a one-day trading break and is part of the 14 official market holidays for the year. Trading across all market segments — equities, derivatives, and currency derivatives — will remain suspended for the day.

Normal trading activity will resume on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Market participants have been advised to plan their trades and settlements accordingly, as no clearances or settlements will take place during the midweek holiday.

Stock Market Holiday on November 5, 2025

Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Guru Nanak Gurpurab, marks the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji — the founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. Celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) in the month of Kartik, the festival’s date varies each year as per the lunar calendar.

The day, also called Prakash Gurpurb, holds deep spiritual significance for the Sikh community and is observed with prayers, religious processions, and community meals (langars) at gurdwaras across the country. Apart from its religious importance, Guru Nanak Jayanti is also one of the major cultural holidays listed in the annual stock market calendar, when trading at the BSE and NSE remains closed.

    – Eid-Ul-Fitr – March 31

    – Mahavir Jayanti – April 10

    – Good Friday – April 18

    – Independence Day – August 15

    – Gandhi Jayanti – October 2

    – Diwali Laxmi Pujan (Muhurat Trading) – October 21

The final scheduled market holiday for this year will be observed on December 25 (Christmas Day). Trading will then resume under the new calendar from January 2026.
