Copyright Society of China wins approval to be observer of world intellectual property body

    July 10, 20251 Min Read

The Copyright Society of China has been approved to be an observer of the World Intellectual Property Organization, confirmed China”s National Copyright Administration on Thursday.

The approval was passed during the 66th series of meetings of WIPO member countries assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, according to the administration. WIPO, a United Nations agency dedicated to supporting global innovators and creators, ensures the safe dissemination of their ideas to the market, ultimately enhancing lives worldwide.

Following this designation, the society will actively engage in a variety of WIPO activities, showcasing Chinese copyright narratives on the global platform and contributing to the high-quality advancement of China’s copyright sector, said the administration.

It revealed that the society has been proactively involved in international exchanges and collaborations in recent years, facilitating member participation in global events and bolstering its copyright influence globally.

Moreover, in June 2021, the society had been granted observer status at WIPO’s standing committee on copyright and related rights, offering expert insights for the development of international copyright regulations.
