Vicinity Energy Honored with North America Utilities Deal of the Year Award at Proximo Congress 2025

    July 13, 20252 Mins Read

Vicinity Energy, an owner and operator of district energy systems in the United States, has been honored with the North America Utilities Deal of the Year Award by Proximo Infra, a prominent B2B market intelligence firm serving the project, energy, and infrastructure finance industries. The award was presented during Proximo Congress 2025, a premier event that gathered leading financial institutions, law firms, and corporate executives to discuss critical trends and opportunities in U.S. energy and infrastructure finance.

Headquartered in Boston, Vicinity Energy is a clean energy company dedicated to decarbonizing its operations and driving the shift toward carbon-free thermal energy. Its systems prevent more than 97,000 tons of carbon emissions each year. In 2024, the company introduced a state-of-the-art electric boiler at its Kendall facility in Cambridge, launching its innovative eSteam product—a carbon-free thermal energy solution utilized by customers such as Emerson College and life sciences developer IQHQ to support their sustainability objectives. Serving the Greater Boston area for over 90 years, Vicinity maintains 29 miles of underground piping and supplies energy to more than 240 buildings.

Vicinity accepted the Proximo Infra award alongside Antin Infrastructure Partners, highlighting their joint commitment to advancing clean energy infrastructure throughout the country. The conference took place at the Four Seasons hotel in downtown Nashville. The company operates 19 district energy systems across 12 major U.S. cities, providing reliable and sustainable steam, hot water, and chilled water to over 250 million square feet of building space.
