SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Sioux City’s City Council voting unanimously Monday night to move forward on a new building for the city’s Utilities Field Office.
The new office will be just across the street from the existing center, on the corner of 18th and Steuben Street. Mayor Bob Scott says that the existing building was built on a landfill and is disintegrating, so replacing it is something the city needs to do sooner rather than later.
“t’s long overdue. The safety of our employees were in that building were compromised, and that’s why we had to make this move. It’s been a long time getting it done,” said Mayor Scott. “Finally, we have to acquire enough land that we could do it and keep it in that core.”
The city will advertise their notice to bidders for the project on August 28th.
