United Utilities hosts Armed Forces breakfast event

    April 6, 20262 Mins Read

United Utilities in Great Sankey hosted its first Armed Forces Network Breakfast to bring together colleagues and local veterans for a morning of conversation, connection and community support.

The gathering supported the company’s commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant and aimed to strengthen relationships across the veteran and colleague community.

Adam Lappin, Armed Forces Network Lead at United Utilities, said: “Our Armed Forces community is an important part of who we are as a business.

“Events like this breakfast help us recognise the contribution of those who have served, continue to serve, or are part of the Armed Forces Family and ensure they feel supported, valued and connected within United Utilities.”

Guests had the chance to share brews, stories and bacon butties.

The event also raised money for the Royal British Legion through voluntary donations, supporting its work with serving personnel, veterans, and their families.

Funds raised will go towards welfare services, community support programmes, and remembrance activities across the region.

The company’s Armed Forces Network plays a key role in championing those who have served, offering peer support, guidance and opportunities to engage with the wider Armed Forces community.

Joe Dodd, United Utilities’ Defence Relationship Manager and Local RBL President, said the event showed the value of bringing together employees and veterans.

Mr Dodd said: “It’s fantastic to see UU colleagues and Veterans come together while also supporting the Royal British Legion, their work as part of the Armed Forces Network makes a real difference to the lives of those who have served or continue to serve, and we’re proud to play a part in that.”

The event also promoted the mental health resources available to United Utilities employees, including those affected by service life or previous conflicts.
