FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Raise a glass! (Of some Fort Wayne water.)
For the third year in a row, Fort Wayne City Utilities won the Best Tasting Water in Indiana award during the Alliance of Indiana Rural Water Fall Conference at the Grand Wayne Center Wednesday.
The award-winning water came from the Three Rivers Filtration Plant, where up to 72 million gallons of water are produced daily. A nearly 1,500-mile network of pipes serves homes and businesses in northeast Indiana.
City Utilities was one of four regional winners for best-tasting water earlier this year, which allowed it to compete for the statewide honor. Judges assessed clarity, odor and taste to determine the winner.
“The Alliance’s competition is not just a celebration of great-tasting water; it serves as a reminder of the stringent regulatory standards that water utilities must meet and the trust our customers place in our ability to provide high-quality water,” said Kumar Menon, Director of City Utilities. “Our streak of successes showcases the exceptional teamwork and attention to detail at the Three Rivers Filtration Plant, and the teamwork between our treatment facilities staff and engineering teams, setting a high bar for water utilities throughout Indiana.”
Fort Wayne will now represent Indiana in the national “Great American Water Taste Test” as Indiana’s representative next year.
