£3m United Utilities water mains works underway in Hartford

    April 15, 20262 Mins Read

United Utilities are to replace a total of approximately 11km of old water pipes with new water pipes.

As of Monday, April 13, they will be at work across several locations for a period of three months.

There is the potential of disruption of the water supply, discolouration of the water supply, and temporary traffic management including one-way road closures, two-way road closures, and temporary traffic lights.

Martin Loftus, a councillor for Hartford and Greenbank Ward, shared the names of a number of roads in a post on social media this week but the residents of these roads should be told as and when it is their turn.

All of the above is in a bid to boost the reliability and the resilience of infrastructure in light of issues including a burst which did damage to the pavement and the road on Chester Road on Friday, June 13, last year.

Rob Moore, Cheshire’s County Business Lead for United Utilities, said water mains would be ‘more durable’ and ‘more flexible’ once upgraded in order to withstand pressure variations and temperature variations.

Mr Moore said: “We are grateful to our customers for their patience while we upgrade the network.”

The £3 million local project is one part of a much larger north west project between 2025 and 2030.

Around a sixth of the project’s pipes are in Cheshire with work already done in areas like Delamere.

Cllr Loftus shared the names of a number of roads in a post on social media this week.
