Initial jobless claims in the U.S. edged up 2,000 to 206,000 during the week ending Aug. 29, according to a report Thursday by the Department of Labor, which was released at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time. That was similar to the forecast of a total of 205,000 from economists polled by the Wall Street Journal.
