Futures trading in the U.S. stock market was pointing to a mostly higher open on Thursday as investors weighed the latest jobless claims data.
The E-Mini S&P 500 Future Continuous Contract was gaining about 0.4%, while the technology-heavy E-Mini Nasdaq 100 Index Continuous Contract NQ00 was up 0.9% and the E-Mini Dow Continuous Contract was declining a modest 0.2%, according to FactSet data, at last check.
Jobless claims in the U.S. decreased 4,000 to 203,000 during the week ended Aug. 22, according to a report Thursday from the Department of Labor that was released at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time. The total was slightly below the 208,000 forecast by economists polled by the Wall Street Journal. .
