Trump was scheduled to host the executives for a lunch at the White House on Tuesday, alongside House Speaker Mike Johnson. Other technology executives expected to attend included Meta Platforms Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Palantir Technologies Inc. CEO Alex Karp and OpenAI President Greg Brockman.
The White House engagement on AI safety comes as a notable shift for Trump, who just last week dismissed concerns over catastrophic risks from the technology as “a hoax.”
The attendee list released by the White House also included Microsoft Corp. CEO Satya Nadella, SpaceXAI’s Elon Musk and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. CEO Lisa Su. Vice President JD Vance, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and White House Science and Technology Policy Advisor Michael Kratsios were also expected to participate.
