    Dow Jones falls 250 points as recession fears grow over Trump tariffs

    US Stock Market LIVE: US stocks plunged for a third straight session on Monday (April 7), as investor anxiety escalated following President Donald Trump’s announcement of steep tariffs on major trading partners. Despite mounting market turmoil, the White House stood firm on the tariff move.

    US Stock Market LIVE: US stocks plunged for a third straight session on Monday (April 7), as investor anxiety escalated following President Donald Trump’s announcement of steep tariffs on major trading partners. Despite mounting market turmoil, the White House stood firm on the tariff move.

    The Dow Jones Industrial Average suffered consecutive losses exceeding 1,500 points for the first time in history, including a 2,231-point drop on Friday. The S&P 500 shed 6% on Friday alone, marking its worst single-day performance since the pandemic-driven crash of March 2020. The index has now lost 10% over two sessions.

    The Nasdaq Composite officially entered bear market territory on Friday, having fallen 22% from its record high. The tech-heavy index slid nearly 6% on both Thursday and Friday, reflecting widespread investor unease.
