UK property investment firm enters liquidation after complaints upheld | UK | News

    July 20, 20262 Mins Read

A property investment firm has been put into voluntary liquidation after customer complaints were upheld by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Guildford based firm Prosper Capital LLP was put into creditors’ voluntary liquidation on June 1, 2026, the FCA announced today.

It says Jeremy Karr and Simon Killick of BTG Begbies Traynor (Central) LLP were appointed as joint liquidators.

Prosper, an FCA-authorised firm, was an alternative investment fund manager and arranged deals in investments.

Prosper has applied to cancel its authorisation, which is subject to review by the FCA.

Prosper was also responsible for the activities of its appointed representative, Crowd2Let Capital Limited.

The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) upheld complaints about property investments made through Crowd2Let, which was an appointed representative of Prosper.

The FCA said on its website today, Monday July 20: “Having considered the financial position and received professional insolvency advice, Prosper stopped trading. Its designated members took steps to place Prosper into creditors’ voluntary liquidation.

“Prosper is still authorised by the FCA and remains subject to supervisory oversight and our rules. The firm has submitted an application to cancel its authorisation, which is subject to review by the FCA.

“The FCA does not regulate insolvency processes or the joint liquidators. The individuals appointed as joint liquidators are regulated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW). They must follow insolvency law and are answerable to the courts.

“We are liaising as appropriate with the joint liquidators.”

On Friday, the Financial Services Compensation Scheme announced it is ‘now open to claims’ against Prosper Capital.

It said: “FSCS is now open to claims for Prosper Capital in relation to the activities of its appointed representative Crowd2Let.

“If you believe you have a potential claim for compensation for Prosper Capital in relation to the activities of its appointed representative Crowd2Let, you can now submit the claim using our online claim service.

“Although we are accepting claims against Prosper Capital, they will not be immediately passed to our claims processing teams for assessment. We are currently investigating the firm to determine whether claims meet the qualifying conditions for compensation, and this may take some time.”

Those who want to make a complaint about Prosper should contact joint liquidators Begbies Traynor by emailing prospercapital@btguk.com.
