UK homes under £500k attract strong viewer interest

    March 31, 20262 Mins Read

Data from Rightmove reveals the most-viewed residential properties priced under £500,000 during March 2026, with listings spanning London, Glasgow, Cambridge, and Bristol attracting significant attention from prospective buyers.

The five most-viewed properties in this price bracket range from £250,000 to £495,000, reflecting diverse buyer priorities across different regional markets. The data provides insight into current demand patterns in the sub-£500,000 segment, which remains particularly relevant for first-time buyers navigating Help to Buy ISA limits of £250,000 outside London and £450,000 within the capital.

    London and southern markets

In Kennington, London, a one-bedroom flat at £415,000 recorded strong viewing figures. The property, located between Oval and Kennington stations on the Northern line, falls within Help to Buy ISA thresholds for the capital. At the lower end of the price spectrum, a one-bedroom freehold house in Cambridge listed at £250,000 attracted attention, situated near Newmarket Road with allocated parking.

    Scottish property market activity

Glasgow featured prominently in the data, with two properties generating substantial interest. A semi-detached three-bedroom house in Pollokshields, measuring 1,313 square feet and located 15 minutes south of the city centre, is priced at £325,000. A second Glasgow listing, a three-bedroom second-floor apartment in a red sandstone tenement in Hyndland, is marketed at £495,000.

The Scottish properties represent contrasting propositions within the market, with the Pollokshields house requiring modernisation whilst offering space and a garage, whilst the Hyndland apartment features period characteristics and proximity to transport links in the West End.

    Regional variations

In Bristol’s Montpelier area, a converted former haystore now configured as a one-bedroom mews house at £325,000 attracted viewer interest. The property features space-maximising design elements including a convertible window seat and folding ladder access to a mezzanine level.

The viewing data illustrates regional price variations, with buyers in London and Cambridge facing higher entry costs compared to Glasgow and Bristol for comparable accommodation types. As property industry professionals prepare for regulatory changes, the sub-£500,000 market segment continues to represent a significant portion of transactional activity across UK regions.

The March viewing patterns suggest sustained interest in properties offering either renovation potential or move-in readiness, with location and transport connectivity remaining key factors influencing buyer attention across different price points within the bracket.
