Property Solvers: mean of 19.32 weeks to sell in St Helens

    March 31, 20252 Mins Read

Updated monthly, the latest dataset analysed over 711 property sales across the region between March 2024 and March 2025.

The statistics track from the moment a property is listed on the UK’s leading property portals to the point it’s marked as officially ‘sold’ at HM Land Registry.

The tool revealed that properties were selling the fastest in Widnes (WA8), Warrington (WA3), and Altrincham (WA14).

In the top five areas, homes took 124.60 days (17.80 weeks) to sell on average.

The fastest-selling area was Widnes, where 82 properties took an average of 121 days to sell.

In contrast, homes were selling the slowest in the Newton-le-Willows (WA12), St Helens (WA10), and Warrington (WA2) postcodes.

In the bottom five postcodes, properties took an average of 148.80 days (21.26 weeks) to sell.

The slowest-selling area was Newton-Le-Willows, where 29 properties took an average of 153 days to sell.

Ruban Selvanayagam of Property Solvers said: “While St Helens’ sale times remain in line with historical trends, there are encouraging signs that greater adoption of tech-driven efficiencies by industry stakeholders will help reduce transaction lengths.

“A key example is improving the accessibility and transparency of property-related data, making transactions more seamless.

“It’s also worth noting that many buyers have been pushing for their transactions to complete before April 1 given the reintroduction of the two per cent Stamp Duty Land Tax band.”
