    FTSE 100 today: Stocks close lower despite earlier tech rally By Investing.com

    Investing.com — British stocks closed slightly lower on Friday, despite an earlier global rally sparked by blockbuster earnings and a broad Wall Street and Asian rebound in technology shares.

    The fell 0.2%, easing off its record high. It was set for its fourth straight month of gains – its best showing since February.

    Amazon shares have jumped more than 14% on Friday after the company reported strong second-quarter results. has declined more than 9% after warning of worsening supply constraints and guiding third-quarter revenue growth to 9%-11%, below market expectations.

    The rally carried into Asia, where Japan’s and South Korea’s surged 3.9% and 17.9%, respectively, to close higher as chipmakers and rebounded sharply after heavy losses earlier in the week.
