MSTR Stock Reaction
Despite the large Bitcoin purchase and Vanguard’s increased stake, Strategy’s stock dropped on the day. Shares fell 0.77% to $165.24 during Monday’s intraday session.
Strategy also reported a BTC yield of 9.5% year-to-date. This measures how Bitcoin holdings have grown relative to shares outstanding.
Vanguard is traditionally seen as a conservative, long-term investment firm. Its increased exposure to Strategy gives it indirect access to Bitcoin without holding the asset directly.
The VOE ETF focuses on mid-cap value stocks. Strategy’s inclusion reflects how Bitcoin-linked equities are appearing more often in traditional investment products.
Strategy has been buying Bitcoin consistently since 2020. It has grown its treasury through a combination of stock sales and debt financing.
The company’s approach links its corporate finances closely to Bitcoin price movements. When Bitcoin rises, Strategy’s balance sheet expands. When it falls, losses can follow.
BlackRock’s Bitcoin holdings sit inside its spot Bitcoin ETF. Strategy holds Bitcoin directly on its corporate balance sheet, which is a different structure.
Phong Le’s comments on X came on April 20, 2026. He described the strategy as combining “appreciating bitcoin” with “accretive financing.”
