PRESS RELEASE: Global Finance Names The 50 Safest Emerging Markets Banks 2025

    September 30, 20253 Mins Read

Global Finance has named the 50 Safest Banks in Emerging Markets for 2025 as part of its 34th annual World’s Safest Banks rankings. The full list is included here and will be published in the November print and digital editions, as well as online at GFMag.com.

Asian banks dominated the list once again this year, taking half of the 50 rankings. South Korean banks came out strongest, with the top three spots, and nine total positions. China has eight banks on the list, as does Taiwan. Banks from the UAE and Saudi Arabia also made strong showings, with six banks from each country on the chart.

The full report also includes the following: World’s 50 Safest Banks; World’s 50 Safest Commercial Banks; Safest Banks by Country, Territory and District; Safest Islamic Financial Institutions in the GCC; and Safest Banks by Region (Africa, Asia, Australasia, Central & Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, North America, and Western Europe).

Global Finance’s annual rankings of the World’s Safest Banks have been the recognized and trusted standard of financial counterparty safety for more than three decades. Global Finance evaluates the ratings and total assets of the main players in developing economies to create the rankings—providing an overview of the key banks in each region and which financial institutions offer the greatest security. Banks were selected through an evaluation of long-term foreign currency ratings—from Fitch, Moody’s, and Standard & Poor’s—of the 500 largest banks in the world.

“In a year marked by tariff uncertainty, shifting interest rate environments, technological disruption, and heightened regulatory oversight, Global Finance’s World’s Safest Banks have proven their strength as anchors of stability in the global economy. Their resilience and innovation continue to underpin trust in the financial system and support the smooth functioning of global commerce,” said Joseph Giarraputo, founder and editorial director of Global Finance.
