Private equity-backed acquisition supercharges property firm’s expansion

    September 3, 20252 Mins Read

Graham + Sibbald has strengthened its UK footprint with the acquisition of Aitchison Raffety, combining their expertise and operations to form a powerhouse of 370 employees across 26 locations.

This move, supported by private equity funding from Foresight Group, expands the firm’s services and solidifies its position in both Scotland and England.

It brings Aitchison Raffety’s 100 staff and nine offices, including in key cities like Birmingham, Manchester, and London, into the Graham + Sibbald fold.

This will enhance the firm’s offering in healthcare services, business rates, and town planning, while also bolstering its valuation, agency, and property management services.

With this acquisition, the combined business now boasts a revenue of £35m and is poised to enter new specialist markets and serve national clients with a more comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach.

Les McAndrew, senior partner at Graham + Sibbald said: “This acquisition builds on our recent expansion into Manchester and London. We’ve been responding to client demand for a fully serviced UK business, and Aitchison Raffety’s expertise and shared values make this a great fit. We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues and offering an even broader range of services to our clients.”

Ian Wimpenny, managing director at Aitchison Raffety said: “This is an exciting new chapter for Aitchison Raffety. By combining our teams and resources, we’ll accelerate growth, expand our capabilities, and offer a wider range of market-leading services across the UK.”

The integration of both firms will take place under the Graham + Sibbald name in early 2026, following a period of continued separate trading.

Graham + Sibbald has offices in Aberdeen, Ayr, Birmingham, Bristol, Dundee, Dunfermline, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Glasgow, Hamilton, Inverness, Kilmarnock, Kirkcaldy, London, Manchester, Melrose, Paisley, Perth, St Andrews, Stirling, and Swindon.
