A utilities specialist has expanded its presence in Blackpool with a new office creating 16 jobs and providing capacity for further growth.
Utility Aid, which helps charities and other organisations manage energy and water costs, has officially opened the base as part of its long-term investment in the town.
The office will support recruitment and employee development, with many of the company’s existing team already based in the Blackpool area.
Its opening was attended by Blackpool mayor councillor Danny Scott and mayoress Councillor Michele Scott, alongside representatives from local charities.
Mayor Scott said: “It is a pleasure to officially open the Utility Aid offices in Blackpool and to hear about all the help and support which they provide to charities, assisting them to navigate the complex process for securing the best utility deals, making their scarce resources stretch as far as possible and taking away the headache of navigating the contracting process.
“The support they provide to the charity sector is invaluable.”
To mark the expansion, Utility Aid donated £5000 to Elliot’s Place and £2500 to Homeward Bound, as well as making contributions to other charities represented at the event.
Utility Aid works with charities, housing associations, schools, churches, community groups and frontline services across the UK, helping organisations secure gas, electricity and water agreements while reducing costs through utility management and energy advice.
Giles Hankinson, chief executive of Utility Aid, added: “Opening our new Blackpool office is an important moment for Utility Aid and a reflection of the incredible growth we’ve achieved together.
“This investment is about much more than office space.
“It’s about creating opportunities for our people, attracting new talent and building an environment where our team can continue to thrive while delivering exceptional service to our customers.
“Blackpool has been home to many of our colleagues for a number of years and we’re proud to be deepening our roots in the town.
“The creation of 16 new jobs is just the beginning as we continue to grow and invest in both our people and the local economy.”
