Utilities Down as Traders Rotate Out of Sector — Utilities Roundup

    February 2, 20262 Mins Read

Shares of power producers fell as Treasury yields rose.

The SPDR Select Sector Utilities exchange-traded fund fell by 1.5%, slipping into the red for the year to date.

Utilities are sometimes called bond proxies because they tend to trade in line with Treasurys. The likely ascent of Kevin Warsh, a relatively hawkish central banker, has weighed on bonds.

Dozens of people have died and thousands of customers are still without power nearly a week after a sprawling winter storm blanketed much of the U.S. with extreme cold, ice and snow.
