    Utilities Down as Defensive Traders Rotate Into Precious Metals – Utilities Roundup

    Shares of power producers fell as traders continued to rotated out of the defensive sector into precious metals, an alternative safe haven.

    The SPDR Select Sector Utilities exchange-traded fund, which tracks the utilities industry group of the S&P 500, is down slightly for the year to date.

    The SPDR Select Sector Materials ETF, which tracks the natural resources industry group of the broad index, is up by 8% for the first three weeks of January.
