United Utilities work to start next week in Samlesbury

    January 21, 20262 Mins Read

United Utilities is investing more than £3.4 million to upgrade more than four miles of water mains as part of a wider £380 million programme.

Upgrades include 575 miles of pipes across the North West over the next five years.

The work begins on January 26 and aims to strengthen the water network and reduce the risk of leaks and bursts.

Stephen Walker, head of water services for United Utilities in Lancashire, said: “Throughout the next five years, we are upgrading more than 100 miles of water mains across Lancashire as part of a wider programme to ensure we can continue to deliver safe and reliable water supplies to customers.

“We know this type of work can be disruptive, and we want to reassure customers that we will do all we can to keep that to a minimum.”

The new pipes are designed to last more than 100 years and can withstand high pressure and temperature changes.

Work will begin in Spring Lane and then move to Preston New Road, with traffic management and diversions in place.

This phase of work is expected to finish by the end of April.

A second phase in Nabs Head Lane will take place during the school summer holidays, from late July to early August.
