United Utilities unveils winners for £205m framework

    October 27, 20252 Mins Read

Eight companies have been selected to aid the water utility company in maintaining its 184 reservoirs over the next decade.

Askam Civil Engineering, AE Yates, Bethell Construction, Bachy Soletanche, Cleantech Civils, JVT Construction Kier Integrated Services, and Stonbury have all secured places on the United Utilities two frameworks for reservoirs.

The work will include investigating, maintaining, repairing, and, when required, replacing assets at the reservoirs. These reservoirs provide 1.85bn litres of drinking water every day.

United Utilities estimated that the frameworks are worth £205m.

“Our reservoirs are critical for keeping customers’ taps flowing across the North West as well as being iconic sites that many people enjoy visiting,” said Jane Simpson, commercial engineering and capital delivery director for United Utilities.

“The eight partners we have chosen will bring great expertise to help ensure we can maintain these reservoirs and provide our customers with the great quality drinking water they expect.”

United Utilities has engaged in a five-year, £13bn programme to improve water quality in the North West by upgrading its infrastructure. This summer, the water company lodged an EIA scoping report to build a new service reservoir and surface water abstraction point on the River Bollin. United Utilities had also previously announced that it would spend £50m to increase sewer storage capacity around Wigan and another £350 to upgrade the Davyhulme wastewater treatment works in Trafford.
