A number of issues are affecting supply
Residents say they have woken up without water in two Greater Manchester postcodes. United Utilities is investigating problems affecting people in parts of Salford, Trafford and Wigan boroughs.
The company says a ‘number of bursts’ are affecting residents in M28 – which includes the Boothstown, Walkden and Worsley areas of Salford, and Mosley Common, in Wigan borough. United Utilities says the issue is causing residents to have either no water or low water pressure.
A United Utilities spokesperson said: “Customers may be experiencing low water pressure or no water in the M28 postcode. While the cause of the problem has been identified and fixed, engineers are now tackling a number of bursts on the network.
“The team are working quickly to fix the bursts and get water flowing again to our customers. Thank you for your patience.”
Meanwhile, residents have also reported water supply issues in Urmston, Trafford. Witnesses have reported issues in the Irlam Road area, including some homes having ‘no water’, following a ‘burst pipe’.
A United Utilities spokesperson added: “We’re sorry if you’re experiencing no water or low water pressure right now. A leak has been reported to us on the junction of Irlam Road and Marlborough Road and we can confirm this is the cause of the problem.
“We’re on with it and our team will be in the area as soon as possible to get this fixed. Thank you for your patience.”
