EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) cuts a requested water rate increase in half.
Pennsylvania American Water was fighting for a much larger increase.
The commissioners also called for the PUC to investigate Pennsylvania American Water’s operations in its northeast Pennsylvania service area.
The rate hike request was met with pushback from customers who regularly experienced discolored, dirty, and smelly tap water.
Commissioners also expressed concern about the company frequently seeking rate-hike requests.
