The City of McAllen is deploying a crew of employees from the McAllen Public Utility and Public Works Department and one Emergency Manager to the City of Laredo tomorrow to provide technical and professional assistance.
The City of Laredo has been under a boil water notice for eight days due to a cross-contamination in their system. McAllen is responding to a call made by the Texas Division of Emergency Management for assistance after Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared a state of emergency for Webb County, where Laredo is located.
“The City of McAllen is always ready and willing to not only provide our experience, expertise and resources to our fellow Texas communities, but also, our compassion, help and support,” said McAllen Mayor Javier Villalobos. “Most importantly, our prayers are with the entire City of Laredo and its residents – our neighbors and friends – that they may get through this difficult time safely. We are proud that whenever we are asked to help, our employees immediately volunteer and are ready to serve.”
