Elkhart County Commissioners have approved several agreements that have been in the works for months for the 850 acre Solar Utility project, allowing that project to begin.
Commissioner Brad Rogers voted in favor of the agreements required by Savion. He says the company did everything the Commissioners ask them to do, particularly in the Emergency Response Plan, which was his greatest concern.
But in a post on Facebook, Rogers also said he doesn’t think he’ll be in favor of rezoning of another large solar project in Elkhart County any time soon, if ever.
He says he voted in favor of the agreements because he said is Elkhart County is in a critical state of not having enough power for industry — at the fault of national and state policies and local utilities not planning ahead.
