COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – The National Weather Service recognized Colorado Springs Utilities as “StormReady.”
StormReady means the NWS believes Utilities implemented a comprehensive set of measures, including plans for severe weather events and performing emergency exercises to prepare for severe weather.
“A lot of what we’re talking about with this StormReady designation is our ability to get real-time information from the weather service which helps us plan and prepare our response which ultimately helps us to keep the power on,” Erin Duran Emergency Preparedness Manager at CSU said.
The goal of the StormReady program is for communities to be better prepared for weather events before and while they happen.
