    Donald Trump’s new crypto token jumps ahead of his inauguration

    Donald Trump’s new cryptocurrency has soared ahead of his inauguration. The $Trump token drew in billions in trading volume, giving it a market capitalization of about $12 billion.

    U.S. stock markets are closed today in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

    The day is one of 12 federal holidays in the U.S. in 2025.

    This year, the day also coincides with Inauguration Day, when President-elect Donald Trump will be sworn into office at noon.

    Is the stock market closed today for MLK Day, Inauguration Day?

    U.S. stock markets will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.

    The Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange will both be closed on the federal holiday but will reopen for regular trading hours on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

    The U.S. bond markets will also be closed on Jan. 20, according to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association. The bond markets will also reopen on Jan. 21.

    Stock market holidays in 2025

    U.S. stock markets will be closed on these days in 2025:

    • Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Monday, Jan. 20
    • Presidents Day: Monday, Feb. 17
    • Good Friday: Friday, April 18
    • Memorial Day: Monday, May 26
    • Juneteenth: Thursday, June 19
    • Independence Day: Friday, July 4 (markets will also close at 1 p.m. ET on July 3)
    • Labor Day: Monday, Sept. 1
    • Thanksgiving: Thursday, Nov. 27 (markets will also close at 1 p.m. ET on Nov. 28)
    • Christmas: Thursday, Dec. 25 (markets will also close at 1 p.m. ET on Dec. 24)

    What time is the presidential inauguration today?

    Vice President-elect JD Vance will be sworn in first, followed by Trump at noon.

    The ceremonies were moved to  inside the U.S. Capitol building after the forecast for freezing temperatures.

    USA TODAY will be streaming the event live. Click here to watch.

    Major broadcast networks, including ABC, CBS, CNN, CSPAN, Fox News, MSNBC, NBC and PBS, will air the inauguration live.

    You can also stream the inauguration live on the White House’s live stream and the NewsNation app, as well as through streaming services that offer broadcast networks such as Hulu, YouTube TV, and Sling TV.
