The Nifty slipped over 150 points from its intraday peak to close flat at 25,879, while the Sensex gained a modest 12 points to end at 84,478.
The Nifty Bank outperformed, touching a fresh intraday peak before closing 107 points higher at 58,382, while the Midcap index underperformed, falling 210 points to 60,692. Market breadth remained weak with a 2:3 advance-decline ratio on the NSE.
Among key movers, Asian Paints surged 4% to top the Nifty gainers after its Q2 results, while Samvardhana Motherson rose over 4% and Eicher Motors slipped more than 1% post-earnings. Tata Steel dropped 1% on concerns around its UK operations and widening losses.
Groww extended its post-listing rally with another 4% gain, while Prestige Estates, Honasa, and Data Patterns traded higher on strong quarterly performances. Lupin added around 1% after receiving the Establishment Inspection Report (EIR) for its Aurangabad facility from the USFDA.
