Stock Market Highlights: Indian markets surged on June 12 as peace hopes between the US and Iran lifted sentiment, Nifty topped 23600, Sensex jumped 1700 points, mid and small caps rallied over 2%
Among Nifty stocks, Shriram Finance, L&T, InterGlobe Aviation, Bajaj Finance and HDFC Bank emerged as the top gainers of the session. On the flip side, Nestle India, ONGC, Tech Mahindra, Power Grid Corporation and SBI Life Insurance were among the key laggards.
Sectorally, all indices except IT ended in positive territory. Consumer durables, realty, telecom, banking, auto, media, oil & gas and metal stocks advanced between 1% and 2%, reflecting broad-based participation across the market.
The broader market significantly outperformed the benchmark indices, with the Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 climbing more than 2% each, underscoring strong investor appetite for mid- and small-cap stocks and signalling a robust risk-on sentiment.
