    S&P 500 and Nasdaq make solid advances, with all major indexes ending Wednesday in positive territory

    US Stock Market LIVE Updates: European Stocks Subdued After Glum Novo Nordisk, Bayer Earnings

    European stocks were muted on Wednesday following a slate of underwhelming results, including those from Bayer AG and Novo Nordisk A/S.

     

    The Stoxx Europe 600 Index were little changed by the close after earlier gaining as much as 0.4%. Novo Nordisk fell 5.4% to the lowest since July 2021, with sales at the Danish drugmaker showing the weakest growth in four years.

     

    Bayer slid 9.7%, the biggest decline since mid-May, on disappointing revenue for soybean seeds and pesticides. Beiersdorf AG slumped 8.6% after the maker of personal-care products reported weaker growth than expected. ABN Amro Bank NV dropped 5.2% as net interest income missed estimates.

     

    Among sectors, energy outperformed as oil ticked higher after a four-day drop, while media and chemical stocks were among the biggest laggards.
