Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: Indian benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex opened the previous trade session in the red. Nifty 50 opened at 23,433.95, while Sensex opened at 77,087.39. The indices later recovered in trade and were up 0.5% each at 11.10 am.
Overnight, Wall Street indices ended in the red. Asian equities too declined in early trade today.
The Nifty snapped its seven-day gaining streak in the previous session. On Wednesday, investors engaged in profit booking as they awaited clarity on the Trump reciprocal tariffs which are to be announced on April 2. However, US President Donald Trump has now signed an order to implement a 25% tariff on auto imports, with effect from April 2. He said the tariffs are “permanent” and he was not interested in negotiating any exceptions.
The focus is now on the US-India trade meet, which began on Wednesday. It involves negotiations on a bilateral trade agreement between the two countries. It will conclude on Saturday.
Vedanta, BSE, Ashok Leyland, NHPC, MSTC, Bharat Forge, Wipro, Bandhan Bank, HDFC Bank, TVS Motor, Info Edge, Infosys, Indian Bank, Max Financial, SBI Life Insurance, Piramal Enterprises, Bank of India, JB Chemicals, NBCC, Maruti Suzuki, HUL, Bajaj Finserv, Tata Motors, are among the stocks in focus today.
