    Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Sensex drops over 450 points, Nifty slips below 24,600

    Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Benchmark equity indices ended lower on Friday, with the Sensex falling 456 points to 78,499 and the Nifty declining 65 points to 24,571, slipping below the 24,600 mark. Separately the Indian rupee ended marginally stronger against the US dollar on Friday, closing at 95.21 per dollar, compared with 95.22 in the previous session.

    Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Benchmark equity indices ended lower on Friday, with the Sensex falling 456 points to 78,499 and the Nifty declining 65 points to 24,571, slipping below the 24,600 mark.

    The Nifty Bank index dropped 317 points to 57,746, while the midcap index bucked the trend to rise 137 points to 63,464. Market breadth was mildly in favour of declines despite the positive close for the midcap index.

    During the special closing auction session (CAS), the Nifty adjusted by 14 points, the Sensex by 7 points, and the Nifty Bank by 57 points, marking the lowest closing auction adjustments this week.

    Among individual stocks, Bajaj Finance slumped 6% after the Reserve Bank of India released draft norms proposing a ban on revolving credit facilities by NBFCs. Bajaj Finserv also declined in line with Bajaj Finance, while other NBFC stocks traded lower.

    Trent extended Thursday’s losses, while ICICI Bank, Jio Financial Services and Axis Bank were among the top losers on the Nifty.

    On the gaining side, Hindalco Industries and State Bank of India ended higher after reporting better-than-expected June-quarter earnings. Reliance Industries, TCS and HCLTech also provided support to the benchmark indices.

    Elsewhere, Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals fell 7% despite reporting in-line quarterly results, while Blue Star extended losses following weak June-quarter earnings. Godrej Consumer Products declined 3% despite better-than-expected results.

    Among outperformers, Samvardhana Motherson gained 9% after the company highlighted a new growth opportunity, PG Electroplast rose 3% after raising its margin guidance, and Hero MotoCorp advanced another 3% after issuing a healthy outlook for FY27.
