Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Sensex fell 376 points to 85,063 and Nifty closed at 26,179. Reliance Industries saw its sharpest fall in 10 months. Trent dropped 8 percent, while IEX jumped 9 percent on market coupling news.
Financials outperformed, with the Nifty Bank rising 74 points to 60,118, aided by gains in ICICI Bank and insurance stocks. In contrast, Reliance Industries posted its sharpest single-day fall in 10 months, while HDFC Bank and ITC also dragged the benchmarks.
Market breadth stayed weak, with the advance-decline ratio at 2:3. The midcap index slipped 117 points to 61,149.
Among stocks, Trent tumbled 8%, emerging as the top Nifty loser after weaker-than-expected revenue growth. HDFC Life led gains among insurers ahead of monthly data. IEX jumped 9% on developments related to the market coupling case, while Divi’s Labs and Emmvee surged 5–8% following positive brokerage notes.
On the downside, Kotak Mahindra Bank closed 2% lower despite healthy Q2 growth, Kaynes Technology fell 5%, and Swiggy and Eternal declined 2–5%.
