Rock band Scorpions cancelled ‘Coming Home’ India tour due to ‘unforeseen medical circumstances’

    April 14, 20262 Mins Read

German rock band Scorpions, who are known for hits like ‘Wind of Change’ and ‘Blackout,’ has cancelled their shows in India. They cited “unforeseen medical circumstances affecting the band members” for the abrupt cancellations.

The band, which was founded in Hanover in 1965 by guitarist Rudolf Schenker, was scheduled to play at JN Stadium in Shillong on April 21. They would then go to Delhi-NCR on April 24 at HUDA Grounds, Bengaluru on April 26 at NICE Grounds, and Mumbai on April 30 at Jio Gardens, BKC.

BookMyShow Live produced and promoted the “Coming Home” India Tour.

The events on Saturday have been cancelled, the organisers announced on Instagram.

The post reads, “We regret to inform you that the Scorpions ‘Coming Home’ India Tour scheduled in Shillong on April 21st, Delhi-NCR on April 24th, Bengaluru on April 26th and Mumbai on April 30th, stands cancelled due to unforeseen medical circumstances affecting the band members.”

It added, “We apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment caused to fans. The band are very keen to perform in India when possible and within their schedule. All the tickets purchased on bookmyshow will be automatically refunded within 7-10 working days.”

In addition to Schenker, the band consists of drummer Mikkey Dee, bassist Paweł Małciwoda, guitarist Matthias Jabs, and vocalist Klaus Meine.

The last time Scorpions played in India was in the 2000s. They toured the nation in August 2001 as part of their “Acoustica Live Tour,” which included a performance in Bengaluru. Later, in December 2007, they performed in Shillong, Mumbai, and Bengaluru as part of their “Humanity World Tour.”

The band had expressed their enthusiasm for going back to India and reminisced about their past trips before their “Coming Home” tour.
