Stock Market LIVE Updates: Technical view

Stock Market LIVE Updates: Nifty opened with a gap down for the second consecutive session and continued to drift lower through the day, with sellers firmly in control. The index eventually closed at 23,898, down 1.14 per cent. Notably, this marks the first instance in April where Nifty has declined by more than 1 per cent in a single session.

Technically, Nifty has slipped below its key short-term moving average, the 20-day EMA, which had previously acted as strong support on April 13. The index has also filled the 238-point gap formed between April 13–15, 2026. Momentum indicators are showing signs of fatigue, with the RSI witnessing a sharp drop from the 60 zone, suggesting a pause in bullish momentum.

Stock Market LIVE Updates: Fundamental view

Stock Market LIVE Updates: The Indian equity market extended its profit-booking streak, pressured by heightening geopolitical tensions in West Asia, a sharp rally in crude oil prices, and a weakening rupee. IT stocks led the decline following disappointing quarterly earnings, while selling pressure was broad-based across sectors. FIIs returned to net selling again after a brief spell of inflows. Sentiment was further dented by global rating agencies downgrading India on inflation and macro concerns, along with the RBI flagging early signs of slowing growth. While valuations have corrected, investors are expected to closely monitor the ongoing results for any potential earnings downgrade, given the wobbling geopolitical uncertainties.
