Tech firm selects Leeds for UK headquarters

    December 3, 20253 Mins Read

A technology company has opened its new UK headquarters in Leeds.

Morta.com, a software specialist serving property developers, construction firms and project managers, has moved into Worx at 2 Great George Street as it scales its operations.

The company, founded in the UAE, has spent two years developing and testing its platform and began supplying it to the market earlier this year.

It is now building a Leeds-based team of software engineers, sales staff and AI specialists to support its next phase of growth.

Alyssa Castillo, marketing manager from Morta, said: “We are a start-up business on a mission to create the best software for property developers in the UK and around the world.

“Although we’ve only been supplying our software since summer, we’re quickly establishing an enviable client base, which already includes several well-known companies across Yorkshire, Manchester and Cheshire.

“Expanding into 2 Great George Street gives us a strategic location to build on this and we’re currently talking to a wide range of property developers in Leeds, as well as throughout the UK.

“In addition, technology in Leeds is a major part of the region’s economy and that means the city has access to a great talent pool and two highly reputable universities, which makes it the perfect place to recruit as we continue developing our AI technology and software.

“We’re now looking forward to growing our team in an amazing historic building that offers a full range of amenities including a gym and a private outside terrace, which are both great for team wellbeing.

“The fact the office was available on an all-inclusive basis also meant we could move in immediately, without the cost and delay of having to fit it out first and there’s a level of flexibility, which will enable us to grow and take more space as and when it’s required, which all added to its appeal.”

Morta.com’s arrival leaves only a small number of office suites still available at 2 Great George Street, a converted Victorian schoolhouse offering Grade A workspace and 83 residential apartments.

Remaining suites range from 670sq ft to 1427sq ft, with the option to combine space up to 6,000sq ft.

Nathan Priestley, chief executive at Prestley Group, of which Worx is part of, added: “Welcoming Morta to Leeds is a big coup for both the city and Worx at 2 Great George Street, which has become a key landmark in the city centre’s historic Civic Quarter.

“Crucially, we already use Morta’s property development software across our companies, which gives us a first-hand understanding of the quality of the product.

“Morta’s groundbreaking technology has significantly enhanced how we work by integrating all the key development fundamentals, spanning feasibility, budgeting, reporting, compliance and even stakeholder collaboration, into one easy to use software package.

“There’s no doubt it will become the go to product for property developers, with endless potential, which is hugely exciting.”
