    Police investigation after Millom property fire linked to fireworks

    Emergency services were called to Newton Street, Millom, at around 9.20pm on Wednesday (November 5) after reports of a fire at a domestic property.

    Crews from Bootle and Millom Fire Stations attended and found the hallway of the property ‘well alight’. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet and thermal imaging camera to bring the fire under control.

    A spokesperson for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said the incident was at a domestic property and had been handed over to police once the fire was extinguished.

    Fire crews were in attendance for around an hour.

    A Cumbria Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 9:21pm yesterday (Nov 5) to the report of a fire at a property on Newton Street, Millom.

     “Cumbria Fire and Rescue service were also in attendance.

     “Investigations are ongoing into the fire are ongoing.

     “Anyone with information relating to this incident can report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it , quoting incident number 250 of 5 November 2025. You can also phone on 101.

     “Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
