Historic Cumbrian property set for auction this month

    May 13, 20262 Mins Read

The Old Print House in Kirkby Stephen will be sold at auction on May 28 with a guide price of £115,000.

Located on Market Square, the Grade II-listed black and white building is a prominent part of the town’s heritage.

Christopher Theocharides, senior commercial surveyor at BTG Eddisons, said: “This is a wonderfully evocative and historic building that is a well-known feature of Kirkby Stephen’s busy market square.

“It’s had a variety of different uses over its centuries-long history and it will be fascinating to see what the next chapter holds for the property in the hands of a new owner.”

Previously used as an inn before being converted into a home, the three-storey property later became Halls Newsagents.

Mr Theocharides said its location adds to its appeal for potential buyers.

He said: “Kirkby Stephen is a fabulous Cumbrian town that’s growing as a base for tourism in the Upper Eden Valley and it also benefits from being on the well-trodden Coast to Coast Walk route.

“Because it’s right between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales national parks and set in amazing countryside itself, that makes it a honey pot for visitors.

“The chance to acquire a historic, town-centre property, potentially for quite a low price, is certainly a rare opportunity and we are expecting plenty of interest.”

The auction will be held online via BTG Eddisons Property Auctions.
