Premarket movers: Intel jumps on SK Hynix memory-chip talks, J.B. Hunt slides By Investing.com

    September 16, 20263 Mins Read

Investing.com – U.S. stock index futures pointed higher on Wednesday, as a dip in oil prices offered some relief to investors ahead of a key Federal Reserve interest rate decision.

By 06:20 ET (10:20 GMT), the had risen 84 points, or 0.2%, S&P 500 futures had gained 17 points, or 0.2%, and had risen 127 points, or 0.4%.

Here are some of the biggest premarket U.S. stock movers today:

shares rallied 5.6% in premarket trading after Barclays upgraded the biosimilar drugmaker to Overweight from Underweight and doubled its price target to $8 from $4.

The upgrade came as Barclays pointed to an improved regulatory outlook heading into the final quarter of 2026. The key development was the FDA’s decision to close its May 2026 inspection of Alvotech’s Reykjavik, Iceland manufacturing facility with a Voluntary Action Indicated classification, which the company viewed as removing a significant regulatory overhang.

shares fell 5.8% in premarket trading to $18.11 after the company priced a $150 million underwritten public offering at $17.25 per share on September 15.

The offering, which includes more than 7.6 million common shares and pre-funded warrants for approximately 1 million additional shares, was priced at a discount to the stock’s previous close. The transaction is expected to close around September 17 and triggered a selloff as investors weighed the potential dilution.

shares slipped 2.7% in premarket trading after Morgan Stanley initiated coverage with an Underweight rating and a $235 price target, roughly 20% below the stock’s previous close.

Morgan Stanley’s concerns center on user engagement. The firm noted that Expedia’s monthly active user growth was flat in the second quarter of 2026, compared with 6% growth at Booking.com and 10% at Airbnb.

The bank also flagged Expedia’s heavy exposure to chain hotels and air travel, which it considers more commoditized segments and potentially more vulnerable to disruption from AI-powered travel tools. Expedia ranked at the bottom of Morgan Stanley’s competitive framework for consumer supply differentiation.

shares fell as much as 9% in premarket trading after the trucking company issued an unusual earnings warning and highlighted rising costs at a Morgan Stanley conference.

The company said it expects earnings to decline between 5% and 10% from the second quarter to the third quarter, while noting that it does not typically provide intra-quarter updates.

Barclays analyst Brandon Oglenski said the company had taken the unusual step of providing an earnings outlook range because of higher costs, despite what he described as an upbeat discussion around freight-market fundamentals and improving demand.

and shares rose after Reuters reported that the companies are discussing a potential deal to manufacture memory chips in the U.S. for the first time.

One option under discussion would see SK Hynix lease part of Intel’s planned chipmaking facility in Ohio, while another could involve a joint venture between the two companies and major cloud providers seeking to secure memory supplies, Reuters reported, citing three people familiar with the discussions.

SK Hynix shares rose 2.7% to 1,735,000 won in Seoul, outperforming the broader , which gained 1%. The stock was up 2.9% in U.S. premarket trading, while Intel gained about 5%.

The move comes as investors continue to monitor developments in the semiconductor industry and potential efforts to expand memory-chip manufacturing capacity in the United States.
