Hochschild Mining profit surges in H1, raises cost guidance; shares climb By Investing.com

    August 26, 20262 Mins Read

Investing.com — reported first-half revenue up 62% to $844.4 million, driven by higher prices, with adjusted EBITDA rising 119% to $491.5 million. Profit before income tax jumped to $365.8 million from $109.3 million a year earlier, while basic earnings per share climbed to $0.37 from $0.12.

Attributable production came in at 151,830 equivalent ounces, or 11.7 million equivalent ounces, down from 165,176 gold equivalent ounces a year earlier. All-in sustaining costs from operations rose to $2,448 per gold equivalent ounce, up from $1,873 a year earlier.

Shares rose 5.8% in London trading by 07:36 GMT.

The company said its turnaround plan at the Mara Rosa mine in Brazil is progressing in line with expectations, with the transition to a new mining contractor going well and further operational improvements expected through the second half, supported by better access to higher-grade areas and improvements to haulage, tailings and water management.

Development work continues at Monte Do Carmo, with a potential construction decision expected by year-end, while Hochschild recently submitted a Modified Environmental Impact Assessment for its Royropata project to the Peruvian government.

Hochschild reported cash and cash equivalents and short-term investments of $308.7 million as of June 30, down slightly from $319.6 million at the end of 2025, but swung to a net cash position of $51.1 million from net debt of $20.0 million.

The company paid a final 2025 dividend of $25.7 million to shareholders and $58.3 million to its San Jose joint venture partner during the first half, and declared an interim dividend of 4.0 cents per share, up sharply from 1.0 cent a year earlier.

For 2026, Hochschild reiterated its attributable production target of 300,000 to 328,000 gold equivalent ounces and its sustaining and development capital expenditure guidance of approximately $210 million to $225 million.

However, the company raised its all-in sustaining cost guidance to $2,380 to $2,500 per gold equivalent ounce, up from a prior range of $2,157 to $2,320, citing the impact of higher prices on royalties, workers’ profit sharing and selling expenses, stronger local currencies across all three of its operating countries, and continued cost inflation in Argentina.
