Register now for Latin Lawyer’s project finance event

    August 27, 20243 Mins Read

The programme is now available for Latin Lawyer’s Regional Project Finance conference, which will take place in New York this November.

The event will be held at Milbank’s New York office on 19 November.

Milbank partner Carolina Walther-Meade will co-chair the event alongside Mattos Filho’s Pablo Sorj.

Register for the event here. Tickets are available at a super early rate until 10 September.

In-house counsel can attend the event for free, just don’t forget to sign up. The full programme is available to view here.

Venue partner Milbank will also sponsor the speaker’s dinner, while Brazilian Elite firm Mattos Filho is sponsoring the drinks reception.

Mexico’s Galicia Abogados and US legal platform Docket Navigator are gold sponsors. International firm CMS is a silver sponsor. LACCA and Lexology are supporting organisations.

Following opening remarks from the co-chairs, the day will kick off with a panel focused on transport infrastructure in Latin America, looking at the key trends that are driving investment and the uptick in arbitration cases related to projects in certain parts of the region.

After a networking break, attendees are invited to a discussion on the political climate in Latin America. The talk will cover the policies that newly elected governments have drawn up around infrastructure in their respective countries, as well as what they are doing to incentivise investment. Galicia partner and co-head of the energy group, Carlos de Maria y Campos, will speak on this panel.

A subsequent panel will focus on renewables projects, looking at which types of green energy and sustainable assets are attracting the most attention. The discussion will also cover the rise of novel investment structures, such as blue bonds and green loans and the challenges and opportunities offered by this trend.

A discussion focused on private equity will follow a networking lunch, analysing which assets investment firms are targeting and analysing what companies can do to make their infrastructure assets more attractive to investors.

In the penultimate discussion of the day, panellists will explore innovation in emerging industries, looking at how projects focused on telecoms, data centres and electric vehicles are redefining infrastructure as an asset class. Speakers will analyse the challenges and benefits presented by this trend.

In the final talk of the day, a fireside chat will focus on one key trend in the project finance field – the subject of which is yet to be revealed, while the speaker is due to be announced in the coming months too.

The co-chairs will round off the day with closing remarks before all attendees are invited to a drinks reception.

Stay tuned to upcoming briefings for more details of the event as they are announced.
