Recently, scammers have used Bitcoin to attempt to scam citizens out of money, and have used fear and urgency to manipulate victims into making hasty decisions.
The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office will not call and ask for money over the phone or through email. Residents are advised to stay calm and not engage with the caller or sender.
