    Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Nifty gains for fourth straight session, Sensex rises 564 points

    Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Indian equity markets ended largely higher on Monday, with the Nifty rising 68 points to 23,414 and extending its gains for a fourth straight session. The index ended above the 23,400 mark, while the Sensex gained 564 points to close at 74,859.

    The Nifty Bank rose 112 points to 56,471, while the Midcap index fell 178 points to 62,013.

    Pharma stocks surged during the session, with Cohance rising over 5% despite US FDA observations for its API unit. Capital market stocks, however, ended lower, with BSE Ltd falling nearly 3%.

    Patanjali Foods surged nearly 8% following positive commentary to CNBC-TV18. Heavyweights including Reliance, ITC and HDFC Bank contributed the most to the Nifty’s gains.

    OFSS fell over 8% following reports of concerns related to its parent company’s debts. ESDS Software snapped a three-day losing streak, ending 5% higher.

    Voltas and Blue Star gained up to 3% following the IMD’s rain deficit forecast. Lenskart and Anupam Rasayan fell over 3% each after large trades through block deals.

    Welspun Corp, Refex and Tega Industries gained on order wins, with Tega Industries hitting a 52-week high. Textile stocks declined following an update on Russian sanctions bills, with Gokaldas Exports falling over 4%.
