    Strategy Bitcoin Buy Speculation Returns After Saylor Teaser

    Michael Saylor has renewed speculation about a possible Strategy Bitcoin purchase after posting the company’s orange-dot chart on Sunday. His two-word caption, “Doing ₿usiness,” gave no transaction details. Still, the familiar tracker often appears before Strategy publicly discloses weekly treasury activity. This time, its meaning is less predictable after several confirmed Bitcoin sales.

    Strategy last reported selling 1,638 BTC, while its cash reserve reached $4 billion. The company also redirected capital toward STRC preferred-share repurchases and dividend payments. Those competing priorities leave buying, selling, and internal treasury management open before its next formal disclosure. Bitcoin traded near $65,146 on Sunday.

    Strategy Bitcoin Purchase Teaser Meets Recent Sales

    Saylor’s post displayed StrategyTracker’s record of orange acquisition dots but did not identify a new trade. Market participants commonly treat these Sunday charts as advance signals. His earlier purchase signal strengthened that association after years of Monday purchase announcements.

    However, last Sunday’s similar post preceded a sale disclosure, changing how traders can read the pattern. Strategy’s Aug. 3 SEC filing confirms it sold 1,638 BTC between July 27 and Aug. 2. The disposal generated $104.73 million after fees at an average price of $63,957.

    Strategy allocated $52.4 million toward preferred dividends and $52.3 million toward STRC repurchases. Its official ledger lists 842,138 BTC after the transaction. Those coins cost $63.51 billion in total, averaging $75,419 each.

    At Sunday’s market price, that reserve was worth about $54.87 billion. The difference placed the position near a $9 billion unrealized loss. That paper deficit changes continuously and does not represent a realized accounting loss from a sale.

    No confirmed Strategy Bitcoin purchases have appeared since the company acquired 520 BTC during the week ending June 22. Strategy has instead recorded four negative ledger entries this year. They total 5,258 BTC, including sales reported on June 1, June 30, July 6, and Aug. 3.

    The change reflects a broader Bitcoin treasury model with several capital-allocation tools. Strategy can use Bitcoin, common equity, preferred securities, or available cash for approved corporate purposes. Therefore, Saylor’s teaser alone cannot establish which funding channel the company used.

    Cash Reserve and STRC Shape the Next Treasury Move

    Meanwhile, the $4 billion reserve gives Strategy room to fund interest and preferred dividends without selling more Bitcoin. The company added $250 million through MSTR share sales during the latest reporting week. It raised $290.6 million from 3.01 million common shares overall.

    Strategy directed another $28.9 million from those proceeds toward STRC buybacks. A further $11.7 million entered its general cash balance. Combined with Bitcoin sale proceeds, the company repurchased 912,143 STRC shares for $81.2 million.

    STRC closed Friday near $94.60, below its $100 stated amount. Management targets trading near $100 and plans disciplined repurchases while the discount persists. Strategy still has $893.8 million available under its preferred-securities repurchase authorization.

    That discount could delay a Strategy Bitcoin purchase if management keeps prioritizing STRC support. Still, the reserve and equity programs provide alternative funding. Strategy could resume accumulation without drawing cash earmarked for dividends and interest. Another Strategy Bitcoin purchases could follow.

    The company’s previous purchase cycle shows how quickly capital deployment can change. Yet its current framework also permits Bitcoin monetization for specified obligations. Neither outcome follows automatically from an orange-dot post.

    Separate onchain activity has added another unresolved question. Lookonchain associated a 1,030 BTC transfer, worth roughly $66 million, with Strategy-linked wallets on Aug. 5. The recent onchain transfer does not prove a sale, since assets can move between custodians or internal addresses.

    Strategy’s public ledger still lists 842,138 BTC. No later company filing confirms that the transferred coins left its ownership. The next SEC filing or dashboard update must establish any Strategy Bitcoin purchase, additional sale, or unchanged balance.
