The Indian stock market will remain closed today, Friday, 3 April 2025, on account of Good Friday. Trading activities on the major stock exchanges – BSE and NSE – will be shut today due to the stock market holiday today.
This is the second market holiday this week and the first for the month of April. Earlier this week, markets were closed on March 31 for Mahavir Jayanti. The stock market holiday calendar on the BSE and National Stock Exchange (NSE) shows April 3 as a trading holiday for Good Friday.
According to the list of stock market holidays, trading in Equity Segment, Equity Derivative Segment, Currency Derivatives Segments & NDS-RST and Tri Party Repo segments, Commodity Derivatives Segment and Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR) Segment will be closed today.
Normal trading activities will resume on Monday, April 6.
Meanwhile, major global markets will also remain closed today due to the observance of the Good Friday holiday. The US stock market will be closed for trading this Friday, along with most of the Asian and European markets.
Commodity Market Holiday
Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the largest commodity bourse in the country, will also be shut on April 3 for the Good Friday holiday. MCX will observe a holiday in both the morning and evening sessions.
Thus, trading in commodities futures such as gold, silver, copper, base metals, crude oil, and others on MCX will be closed for the whole day today.
Upcoming Market Holidays in April
There are a total of two stock market holidays in the month of April, including the Good Friday holiday today. The next stock market holiday this month will be on 14th to mark Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti. Thus, the Indian stock market will be closed for two additional days this month apart from the weekends.
Meanwhile, there are 20 stock market holidays this year, out of which four coincide with the weekends, leaving a total of 16 days when the markets are shut for trading during the regular working days. Among these, markets have already seen five holidays.
