Man claims wife stole $200m in Bitcoin from him using CCTV

    March 17, 20262 Mins Read

A man is suing his wife, claiming she stole almost $200 million in Bitcoin from him with CCTV, leaving him to have to bug their home.

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have become pretty big business over the last few years. Many early Bitcoin investors have become multi-millionaires, leading to many others wanting to get on board and make their fortune. However, it isn’t always the case, as the market regularly fluctuates.

The rise in Bitcoin prices has also seen a rise in crime around it too. Many thieves have targeted crypto millionaires at their own home, with streamer Amouranth being one of the most high-profile targets we’ve seen.

In the UK, though, Ping Fai Yuen has alleged that his wife, Fun Yung Li, stole Bitcoins from him after using their in-home CCTV system.

    Bitcoin allegedly stolen via CCTV

As per court records from March 2026, Fai Yuen alleged that a theft of 2,323 Bitcoin, valued at approximately $172 million, happened back in 2023, claiming that his wife was the one behind it.

According to Fai Yuen, his eldest daughter told him that Yung Li was trying to take the Bitcoin from him. That led to him bugging their house with listening devices.

He discovered that the Bitcoin, which had been taken from him with a recovery phrase, was distributed to 71 blockchain addresses. However, the funds have not been touched for over two years.

Additionally, it was reported that Fai Yung assaulted his wife upon learning about the Bitcoin theft and had spent time in custody for it. He pled guilty to those charges. As it stands, the court case will continue.

As noted, this isn’t the first Bitcoin theft, but it is one of the most notable. In early March, $5 million worth of stolen crypto was, well, stolen again following a mistake from officials in South Korea.

Back in late 2025, $11 million worth of Bitcoin was taken during a heist in San Francisco, with a thief pretending to be a delivery person to gain access to a home.
