Trump to raise global tariff rate to 15% after Supreme Court ruling By Investing.com

    February 21, 20261 Min Read

Investing.com — U.S. President Donald Trump said Saturday he plans to raise a temporary tariff on imports from all countries to 15%, up from the 10% rate introduced earlier this week following a Supreme Court decision that struck down parts of his previous tariff program.

The higher tariff would take effect immediately and could remain in place for up to 150 days under existing trade law, though the move may face legal challenges.

Trump said the administration will use the interim measure while working to implement new tariffs that comply with legal requirements after the court ruled against duties imposed under an economic emergency framework.

“I, as President of the United States of America, will be, effective immediately, raising the 10% Worldwide Tariff… to the fully allowed, and legally tested, 15% level,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social, adding that many countries had been “ripping” the U.S. off for decades.

The temporary levy applies in addition to existing tariffs already in place.
